Sidetrack is my go-to on the weekends or when I have friends in town. It's a spot to start the night with well-priced, strong drinks, the best music, and tons of space to spread out. It's all one place but there are at least seven or eight different bar areas where you can switch up the vibe and people-watching/connecting. There is a diverse mix of gays that hang out here, so you're almost guaranteed to find your flavor. They also NEVER have a cover (which can SOMEtimes lead to longer, but fast-moving lines). Their boozy slushies are on the sweeter side, but will definitely put you in a great mood.

MEN beware ... now Dixie Lynn's Drag Bar
Shame on the owners. Chuck Hyde's legacy is dead. Sidetrack used to be a great place to hang out and see and talk to MEN and a pillar of the gay community. Now it's just a capitalistic (in the worst sense if the term) drag bar in partnership with VH-1 - Dixie Lynn literally runs the place - twinky boys and their bff girlfriends, and straights who think they're cool hanging with the gay folk. Sad. Complained to our favorite - for years - bartender and as was told "look around ... the cash registers are ringing, that's all we care about." Note to management: read any analysis of millenials as consumers ... they are fickle; they will leave as quick as they came and in the meantime you have alienated your core customers (Oh but that's ok I guess as one of the drag queens told me that my generation is the one with the problem). A look around tonight and the regulars who have supported and built this bar's business for years were no where to be found. A great business model. Good luck with that. Great real estate though for when that's all it's worth for condo development 18 months from now. Maybe I'll speculate on that ..... -

This place has so many areas . It's huge and the staff are super nice. There's a drag show with almost 100 queens !! Fierce ! It's a must go and see and everything is within walking distance . Please see my favorite bartender Cesar !! He's awesome ! Tell him Karim. Sent you from New York !! -

It's the epitome of what I remember gay club life was everywhere else..........people enjoying themselves and the company of others............how I wish I could tele-port to be there every weekend.........and it's everything everyone told me it would be......it's the #1 bar in Illinois for a reason.....
