Having been around since 1987, Roscoe's knows how to keep its crowds entertained. Today, a favorite of Halsted, this bar caters to its young, fun crowds who meet here to catch Roscoe's award-winning drag shows.
Roscoe's is my go-to for a night of dancing! I also enjoy it for a casual post-work drink. They are sort of a mullet of a bar—with more of a hang-out space up front and the party in the back room. They also serve food, which is a nice little perk if you get hungry. During the summers, Roscoe's also has a patio outside that is nice to chill at during non-party hours. Their daily specials also can't be beaten. On Thursdays right now, rail mixers are just $2, and you can often find me there on Sundays for dollar beers and Britney Spears!
Younger
For twinks and drag queens. I prefer Sidetrack or Replay for boystown bars. Better yet, go to Andersonville bars.
ron
DJ Ron has been dragging me to the dance floor for years. love the atmosphere
Super popular. Younger crowd, lots of visitors, newbies
This bar is a well known bar, not just among locals; if you've ever visited Chicago and come to Boystown, chances are you've probably been to this bar. Good fund, good music, with a dance floor in the back that plays good music.
Avoid the pitchers if you wish to live! Though they are quite tasty and cheap....
Favorite Place!
Every time I visit Boystown, I always have to stop at Roscoes. It's definitely my favorite place to dance the night away. Overall, the crowd is not intimidating. It has a great mixture of people. Even though the dance floor can be tight as times there is plenty of room to get air and grab a drink! LOVE ROSCOES!!!
The Original
Cool club for Dancing & Cruising.
YUMMM
One word.. HOT
Fun Drag Race
I was here earlier in the evening on one of my nights in Boystown. Roscoe's is a legendary Chicago establishment that I've heard people all over the Midwest talk about. Frida Lay was hosting a fun drag race the night I was here. We went to Berlin to dance after the show ended, but it was definitely cool to stop in to this place that I hear so many people mention.
Packed like sardines that all wanna dance.
+1 that they recycle. They're probably the only bar in Boystown that recycles.

I'm writing this review for the cafe part of Roscoe's. I came here Saturday night with my boyfriend, we felt like eating somewhere that had outdoor seating. This is a great sidewalk cafe in the middle of boystown. The service was excellent, wait staff very friendly and attentive. The food is good too, i would not say it is excellent, but it is well worth coming back for. I ordered a vegetarian black bean burger, came with delicious tater tots. I think next time I would like to try their vegan coleslaw, I hear that is really good. Great place to come to if you are looking to eat somewhere that has outdoor seating on a nice summer night.
nice bar to start an evening
It might've been the day of the week, but it was quite empty, compared to other bars in that street. Prices could be a bit lower. As a traveler who just stopped by, it was quite hard to get to know anybody who seemed halfway sane (no offense!).
The location is nice though. Would give it another shot on a saturday night.
Attitude filled bar
Was not impressed with this twink attitude filled bar very pompus and overpriced drinks that were weak!!
