Kyle L. Caskey, 53, of Key West, Fla., and formerly of Paris, passed away Aug. 18, 2017, following a short illness.
A celebration of life gathering for family and friends is 3 p.m. Sept. 23 at his mother’s home, 5 Walnut Drive, Paris. A memorial service was Aug. 22 in Key West.
Mr. Caskey is survived by his parents, Robert Caskey of Prescott, Ariz., and Gwen Gosnell of Paris; twin sister, Kelli Coleman of Garland, Texas; his partner, Teddy Hrywny of Key West; and his beloved dogs, ZuZu and Zoey.
A 1982 graduate of Paris High School, Mr. Caskey earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Columbia College in Chicago. He was a member of the National Concierge Association and was named the 1996 Concierge of the Year in Chicago, in addition to several other awards.
Through his interest in the hospitality industry, he formed his owned business, Concierge Exclusif, Inc., and was later concierge department manager of Hotel Monaco in Chicago and Best Western Hawthorne Terrace, also in Chicago and front desk agent at Duval Gardens Bed & Breakfast in Key West. He was the featured concierge manager at the Hotel Monaco Chicago on the Travel Channel’s “Great American Hotels” with host Samantha Brown.
His love for the performing arts continued throughout his life and was evidenced by his many performances on stage. A natural comedian, Mr. Caskey often was cast in comedic roles. A director who directed him in eight shows described him as a first-rate comedian who was also an exceptional dramatic actor. While in Key West, he was a member of the Red Barn Theatre box office staff and group tour manager and special events coordinator for the Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory. He also portrayed Bartholomew Barrymore in Ghosts & Gravestones Tours in Historic Tours of America, Treasures of Key West. Most recently he was instructor/care giver for adults with intellectual disabilities at Monroe Association for ReMAR Cable Citizens, Inc., the MARC House/Windsor Home in Key West.
