An amazing dining experience

My partner and I decided to eat at the Bistro based upon the other reviews on this site. We walked in without a reservation on a Sunday evening about fifteen munities before closing anticipating an unhappy reception. Instead we were welcomed warmly and seated immediately at the last available table, by the couple that owns the establishment. The atmosphere was comfortable, unpretentious, and romantic. The food was fantastic from start to finish. The muscles and truffle fries are not to be missed. We also really enjoyed the BYO concept, in these economic times it is nice not to be gouged for wine. The staff felt like family and we will be making this a must do any time we are in Chicago again.

Great Find

Though this is supposed to be "Dutch" home cooking, being a Dutch national, and having lived in Holland (well, Amsterdam) for some time, I have a very hard time characterizing this food as Dutch, but no matter - fantastic restaurant. Was there on a prix-fixe night, and for $30 (BYOB) had a wonderful, innovative 3-course dinner that wouldn't be out of place in any of the top 100 restaurants I've eaten in. Unfortunately large portion for my pig-knuckle and rigatoni dish, but had a chat with one of the proprietors why I sent back 75% of the food - just couldn't eat it! Perfect french fries - always hard to do in a restaurant, perfectly cooked meat, a real treat. Great ambience - the interior of the restaurant looked clearly Dutch. Worth making a trip. Unfortunately, BYOB.
