Crew Bar + Grill (Closed Permanently)

(59 Ratings)
Chicago's gay sports bar

Chicago's gay sports bar with a full kitchen (serves full menu till 10 p.m.) and extensive beer list. Multiple TVs to show all the games but also has theme nights with underwear contests and more. Fun, laidback crowd.

Just another gay bar...

So I came here because it was supposed to be a "gay sports bar." I guess they think because they put some jerseys in a case it qualifies them. Staff: RUDE The bartender ignored me for awhile, then came up, raised an eyebrow. That was his way of asking what I wanted. I ordered their double bloody mary. "Spicy?" he asks. Believe it or not but that will be the single word he says for the duration of my stay!! No other conversation, so thanks, nada. He will spend most of his time in the corner playing with cupcakes and hugging and kissing a guy on the other side of the bar (and not washing his hands). DRINKS: The double bloody mary was a joke. Very weak The CROWD: I am supposedly in a sports bar and the first thing I hear one guy say to another guy is: "hey girl!" That told me it would be a one drink visit FOOD: I did not order any but looked at the menu and seems way over priced for bar food. Be warned. SPORTS BAR: So they advertise 20 TVs but less than 1/2 were playing sports, making sure Lady GaGa videos are on the majority (this is a Sunday Afternoon with plenty of Sports on). Another patron asks when the Cubs game starts and NO ONE working @ Crew knew. Really? Clue-less staff about sports.

Sports on TV, Nice environs, and the gays

Crew is a pleasant surprise. Super nicely appointed, nice bar staff and sports on the TV. Didn't eat, but this is a definite must hang out place (albeit not in the middle of either boystown or andersonville).

Definite Must for Cubs Fans

Love it cause the guys act like guys, but they're all still into guys! Love the stainless steel, the food is great, and the bartenders are hot and friendly.

Always a good time

Crew was one of the first places I went to when I moved to Chicago. The staff has always been very friendly and they're beer list is extensive. Add that to the great food they have and fact that you can always catch your favorite sporting event and it's easy to see why Crew is such a popular place.
