Inventive menu, attentive service, warm atmosphere and wonderful food. The cilantro garlic baby backs are to die for. Snap pea and watermelon feta salad also excellent. Highly recommended

Hearty is conveniently located at the north end of Chicagos gay neighborhood Northalsted - just a block north and across the street from the neighborhood IHOP (gayHop). The restaurant is run by the hearty boys Dan and Steve the gay couple made famous by the Food Network. The menu is comfort revisited containing such items as Moxie Chicken and rabbit corn dog (both of which I tried and found yu-mmy). I visited this restaurant twice while in Chicago for the 2011 Northalsted Market Days Weekend. I was initially introduced to the restaurant by a couple friend I know who live in Chicago, and just had to go back once more. Its one of those places regularly packed with locals and where everything on the menu is good. The friendly staff added perfectly to the relaxed environment. The restaurant layout includes a bar, with inside and outside dining. The hand crafted mahogany bar is paired with seaglass subway tiles and exposed brick. Walls of burnt orange and lime set off a wallmounted fireplace and bespoke stained glass art. I strongly suggest giving this restaurant a try on your next trip to gay Chicago.
