Howdy Country Dance Fans,
The third Sunday of May has rolled around and once again I am a bit behind in dropping you a reminder and invite to our monthly Country Dance Party art The Call. Such an important date, too as it was 30 years ago in May that I hosted our very first 2-Stepping night at Carol's Speakeasy which led to our big Sunday dances. So you would expect me to throw a big celebration to mark this occasion, right?
Most all of you know I also manage Touché and with the coming Memorial Day weekend, I will be hosting several big events and planning for that has taken most of my attention. (not to mention installing a new floor in the bar and organizing a new bear weekend) All this has combined to limit my plans for a big dance celebration this month.
That's not to say we won't be dancing. After a hectic couple of weeks, I am looking forward to a day "in the country" with you. Each month in these messages, I talk about you meeting up with your country friends for a dance. But more importantly, you're my friends, too. Over 30 years, I have come to know many men and women, gay and straight at dance parties I have hosted. And these monthly dances have been my best bet to keep that friendship going. So I truly enjoy getting up in the booth and playing tunes to get you on the dance floor.
So, if I'm not too late with this reminder, I hope to see you this Sunday, May 21st at The Call. I am sure many others will be glad to see you, too.
Then mark your calendars now for Sunday June 18th. Not only will we celebrate our Pride next month, but I will put together a proper celebration to mark the past 30 years of country dancing fun we have enjoyed from those days back at Carol's Speakeasy to Puszh Studios, Paris Dance, Whiskey River and many other stops along the way. I will get invitations out shortly after Memorial Day to make sure you are part of this big event!
I'll be in the booth this Sunday at 4pm, hoping to see you on the dance floor.
