Good morning everyone, as it may be known, our indigenous brothers and sisters are currently in North Dakota fighting for not only their freedom or equality, but their own lives and lives across the United States of America! The pipeline will cut through 200 rivers, creeks and tributaries which will carry 570,000 barrels of oil every single day! North Dakota has became the ongoing and latest war on the battlefield between Native Americans and oil on the Native land.
Keep in mind, that the land where the pipeline is being constructed is land that was given to the Native Americans which was part of a 1868 Fort Laramie treaty which makes construction workers and police officers trespassing on their land / property. Our indigenous brothers and sisters has been fighting a environmental battle against fossil fuels and it is important that we, as the people #StandInSolidarity with them and help them fight!
Native people protested the expansion of the tar sands in Canada, the Keystone Pipeline in the USA, and in Ecuador indigenous people help bring a multibillion - dollar lawsuit against Texaco and Chevron over oil pollution. This is a violation of the law, which emphasizes consultation with the tribes.
Join citizens in Chicago like myself on November 12, 2016 at the Federal Plaza at 2:00pm to Stand with #StandingRock and to expound on the love and solidarity we have for our indigenous people!
