Employing graffiti, monologues, brick laying, book making, and a procession, VIP: Very Important Performances features performative works by 3Arts awardees and their collaborators that challenge artistic and social norms within a "democratic lounge" space located above the EXPO CHICAGO art fair.
Miguel Aguilar and Chris Silva turn the walls into graffiti canvases; Amanda Williams presents rehabilitated bricks; Fawzia Mirza disrupts Donald Trump's Islamophobia; and Rashayla Marie Brown and Folayemi Wilson have a say on professional pay and artistic agency while Regin Igloria chronicles the proceedings through artists' books. By joining in these performances, VIP invites you to co-create a more equitable art world.
ADMISSION & LOCATION:
Free with admission to EXPO Chicago art fair at Navy Pier. Visit us within the fair via the stairs next to EXPO VIDEO, or the elevator by the Northern Trust Anchor Lounge.
