Join moderator Kim Hunt, from Pride Action Tank; Camilla Taylor, from Lambda Legal; renowned LGBT Historian, John D'Emilio; Tracy Baim, from Windy City Media Group; and Victor Salvo, from the Legacy Project in a thoughtful discussion about how these key cases have directly shaped the quality of life for LGBTQ people today.
The discussion will cover:
* The right to send LGBT-related literature through the mail and its impact on our earliest political organizing;
* The fundamental rights to sexual freedom and privacy;
* The importance of upholding local laws to protect LGBTQ people in the absence of full constitutional equality;
* The right to Marriage Equality.
The program will also touch upon the controversy surrounding Antonin Scalia’s replacement, the future of “Bathroom Bills” targeting transgender people, and the fate of “Religious Freedom” laws sweeping the country.
The evening will begin at 6p with an hour-long reception to welcome “The Legacy Wall” traveling LGBT History installation (opening at the Center on Halsted Library on June 27), followed by the panel discussion from 7-8p in the adjecent Baran Center.
