Our permanent collection galleries get a fresh look every year. We’re unveiling the latest changes over the summer with a series of celebratory cookouts in the sculpture garden featuring food, drink, performances, and conversations about art and belonging.
On June 30, join us for the debut of our new-look contemporary gallery. The evening features an in-gallery musical performance by composer and flutist Janice Misurell-Mitchell, Ann E. Ward, Edward Wilkerson Jr, and Mwata Bowden inspired by Antony Gormley’s sculpture Infinite Cube. In addition to musical performance, Artist Zachary Cahill will do a reading also inspired by Infinite Cube. Plus, Prints and Privacy opens with a gallery talk by one of the exhibition’s student curators.
Food will be provided by Big Star Chicago's taco truck, and we will have beer from from Chicago’s Hopewell Brewing Company!
Free, but let us know if you plan to come!
Rain or shine.
Continue the celebration—additional Summer Cookouts take place at the Smart on July 14 and August 18 and the Nights at the Museums 2016 series takes place across Museum Campus South all summer long.
