The 20-25 minute interactive performance Loop Hoop will take place in the Neiman Center. A 60-inch TV will project a video game with two controllers installed in the gallery space.
Loop Hoop is an interactive video game + performance which aims to twist the conventional view on female’s body, specifically, the uterus. Discussion of the female body has been a taboo for centuries within male-centered societies, while it is often much more acceptable to talk about the male body, sex, and desire. Focusing on menstruation, we suggest a different way of viewing this feminine experience: the cycle of a cosmos, nature, and life. Flamboyant and sensational visual representation satirizes how representation of women’s bodies has been abstracted, exaggerated, and fantasized in mainstream media through the lense of the male gaze.
