Theater artist Taylor Mac returns to the MCA with his essential "A History of Popular Music" for a three-decade concert series looking back at 1956–1986. His astute take on music and culture spans the times of civil rights struggles to the Stonewall Uprising to disco and beyond.
This subjective history of our country told through music is taking the form of 24 hour-long concerts that bridge 24 decades—from the founding of our country in 1776 to now. Taylor is currently building the project decade by decade and song by song; it culminates in 2016 with an epic 24-hour-long extravaganza.
