David J. Malebranche, author of Standing on His Shoulders: What I Learned about Race, Life and High Expectations from My Hatian Superman Father.
Standing on his Shoulders is a story about the author, David J. Malebranche, and his dad. It is a journey about their relationship throughout the course of his life – from childhood wide-eyed wonderment, to disappointment and resentment as a teen and young adult, to finally forgiveness, understanding, and profound appreciation as a grown man. It is a story about a Black father born in Haiti and his son born in America, and how this father taught his son that high expectations and excellence should be the rule, not the exception.
There will be a discussion with David Malebranche. Followed by a brief Q&A and networking.
The event is FREE and open to the public.
Light refreshments will be served.
