Be a part of this year's Day of the Dead Celebration!
Celebrate Día de los Muertos with us on Sunday, November 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and take part in transforming the Museum and surrounding area into a beautiful work of art honoring those who have passed.
To participate, submit a photo of someone you love who has passed away. The photo will be projected onto the Museum’s exterior walls on November 1st.
You can also create your own ofrenda (altar) behind the Museum in Harrison Park, where the soccer field will be grounds for a festive party honoring those who have passed. (Registration required.)
This year marks the Museum's 29th annual Día de los Muertos celebration, so we'll round out the evening with Pan de Muerto (Day of the Dead Bread), altar demonstrations, live performances, face painting, and art activities.
Visit www.ChicagoDayoftheDead.org to sign up to create an ofrenda, or to submit a photo for our giant illuminated ofrenda.
This project is partially supported by an IncentOvate grant from City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
Support is also provided by:
Chicago Park District, Illinois Arts Council Agency, Univision Communications Inc., and travel provided by Southwest Airlines.
