LEA DELARIA FROM ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK HOSTS WOMEN IN MUSIC
$25 Concert | $75 VIP + Concert Tickets
** A limited number of VIP + Concert tickets remain. VIP sales officially end Saturday at NOON. **
Join us for an afternoon of choral and symphonic music written and arranged by women trailblazers. Comedienne, jazz musician and actress Lea DeLaria is our host.
DeLaria currently stars as “Big Boo” on the Netflix hit series Orange Is the New Black. Known as the "Butch Queen of Hollywood," she broke new ground more than two decades ago as the first openly-gay comic to appear on national television, with appearances on The Arsenio Hall Show and as host of Comedy Central's all-gay special, Out There.
This concert features the Lakeside Pride Symphonic Band with a special appearance by Chicago's own Artemis Singers, the first lesbian feminist chorus in the U.S. Program includes works by Pulitzer-prize winner Jennifer Higdon, Emmy Award-winning composer Julie Giroux, and Lieutenant Colonel Virginia Allen, USA, Ret., the first woman to command and conduct an active duty military band.
LIMITED TICKETS are available at $75 for a special pre-concert VIP event with DeLaria at the Green Mill Cocktail Lounge. Tickets include a meet-and-greet, admission to the concert, a signed CD, and a wine with hors d’oeuvres.
