Big Dipper is a bear of a rapper out of Chicago.
Known for his playful antics, catchy beatz, and exciting live performances, BIG DIPPER makes everyone wanna shake their ass and bounce their dicks. His queer mentality, smart lyricism, and humor give his music an edge and his major sound cannot be ignored.
Through a combination of danceable pop/goth music and multifaceted glitter- and-gore stage theatrics, Chicago’s BAATHHAUS (formerly known as DAAN) blends synth-punk industrial sounds with choreographed on-stage antics. Forming in 2010, BAATHHAUS features four multidisciplinary artists (Patrick Andrews, Dan Foley, Jesse Hozeny & Jesse Young) performing their genre bending “queer-electro-fuck” music while brazenly addressing hot-button issues of gender and sexuality. Their dynamic glam-rock performances double as outlandish visual environments featuring costuming, experimental movement, and pre-recorded multimedia routines.
Described as “part pop concert and part performance art” in their Chicago Reader cover story (October 2012), BAATHHAUS has built an avid, enthusiastic following by bridging rock’n’roll and experimental theatre with Chicago’s queer nightlife. Inspired by highly stylized avant-garde pop acts like David Bowie, Klaus Nomi, and Grace Jones, BAATHHAUS has opened for music’s more outrageous personalities (Big Freedia, CSS, Diamond Rings, and Big Dipper) at venues like Empty Bottle and Metro, while also performing in association with Chicago’s most provocative fringe theaters (Links Hall, About Face Theatre). Their unique brand of bloody DIY theatricality and addictive darkwave pop has additionally received praise from WBEZ and Vice Magazine.
