This special performance—featuring the Chicago premiere of “Colors: A Celebration” by Composer Tim Jansa—presents music that champions equality. "Colors" is a reflection of the diversity, strength and unbreakable spirit of the LGBT community, and provides a musical interpretation of the Gay Rights Movement—from Stonewall to the present. This performance also includes “A Movement for Rosa,” a musical tribute to civil rights hero Rosa Parks by Chicago composer Mark Camphouse, “Candide Suite” and “Somewhere (from “West Side Story”) by Leonard Bernstein, as well as “Wedding March” by Felix Mendelssohn. Additional masterworks planned for this concert inspire a sense of victory, transcendent peace, and hope for the future. Pre-Concert Talk: Composer Tim Jansa and Lakeside Pride Symphonic Band Conductor Kyle Rhoades will host a conversation with audience members approximately 30-minutes before the start of the concert. FREE to all concert ticket holders. A portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales benefits the Equality Illinois Education Project, the 501(c)(3) arm of Equality Illinois, which focuses on educational outreach on behalf of the LGBT community.
