I Still Love H.E.R. is a booking/entertainment company created by LadyGemStar & KickAssAlyssia dedicated to the love of hip hop and its elements through the feminine experience. I Still Love H.E.R. hosts a monthly event in Chicago where the four elements are represented by featuring a variety of Chicago female DJs, MCs, Breakers and artists. We want to create a platform and raise awareness to the importance of the feminine contribution in the hip hop community in Chicago, as well as in it's culture. This month we will be showing love to artists from the Midwest! Ohio, Indiana, and of course Chicago will be in the building! From Ohio, we welcome JOHNNIE MAE. Raw skills and clever wordplay describe the lyrical talents of rapper JohnnieMae. Born, Jamie Rai Williams this Ohio native eventually adopted the stage name "Johnnieae" after rapping and performing for a whole year without a stage name. Shortly thereafter coined Ohio's newest lyrical phenom. Raised in a lower class neighborhood in Toledo, Ohio by a single mother and grandmother Johnnie Mae Williams, who was the source of her inspiration to pursue music. JohnnieMae began to find solace in writing poetry after the death of her grandmother at age 14. She says, her desire to rap grew after she joined forces with her best friend and fellow rapper Flintstone to make their first mixtape in 2005 titled "beauty and the beast". The mixtape quickly gained local notariety with her city and surrounding areas crowning her the best in the midwest. With a promising solo career in tow, she hooked up with street fam producer Mally The Martian in early 2007 for her biggest single "Im Paid". The song was an instant smash gaining over 10,000 hits on myspace in a month." Im paid" also gained the support of numerous DJs and brought a few label offers to the table. Although she opted to decline all offers, she was ecstatic about what the future held. With all things looking promising she decided to officially pursue music but not before a major setback. In late 2007 she was arrested on drug trafficking charges and subsequently sentenced to a year in prison. Prison was definitely an enlightening experience, she recalls. "I was forced to learn alot of things about myself and my behaviors which was hard but worth it."With fans and critics eagerly waiting, 2012 offers a more polished and redefined image and style from Johnniemae. She is set to release her first EP titled "talking 2 myself", featuring the empowering anthem "Beautiful" and the soulful storytelling track "Clap for Me". From Indiana, we welcome LIV FREE. LivFree (Olivia Ervin) hails from Hammond, Indiana. When she isn't busy catching the latest episode of Breaking Bad or being a regular customer at the local diner, she can be found concocting some of the dopest underground raps today. Her effortless delivery over some of the smoothest beats shows why Liv is constantly turning heads. Keep on the look out for Hazy Dreams dropping soon!" Music will be provided by our guest DJ AMPM (CHI) DJ AMPM, Chicago’s Premier Female DJ has broken many barriers. AMPM has been a mainstay in the local nightlife scene for 10 years. Currently, this multi-talented diva can be seen at 5x2 Events (www.5x2.org) throughout Chicago. The first lady of the Soul Selectors (Chicago’s Largest DJ Collective) and Head Hip-Hop Vinyl Buyer at Gramaphone Records. and our resident DJ RHATED R (CHI) Rhated R tried rapping and after realizing there was a lot more to rapping than met the eye, she gave up all hope at becoming a rapper. She later co-hosted a college radio show for a short period of time. While attending college, Rhated R interned for several major record labels. She eventually landed at THE pioneering hip-hop label. At the time, the music industry wasn’t ready for the music download craze. Unfortunately, it cost a lot of people their jobs and Rhated R was a casualty to a series of layoffs. Still having feelings for her first love, she took a chance on love again and rekindled the love affair…this time from the DJ booth! Art showcased this month by CAITY B.
