Gest Gay Bathhouse....PERIOD!!!

This is a great place for meeting guys, watching guys and getting your rocks off. You can have as much or as little sex as you want! The steam rooms are great! The hot tub is massive and you can get up close and personal with almost anyone you want. Great looking guys of all ages and there is enough traffic so you will never be bored! I wish that this was also a hotel option. I attended a couple bear parties here. I come to Chicago a few times a year - and always spend a significant part of my time here. This is a five star place. Oh, by the way - the gym itself is also great!

Visited November 2012. This bathhouse is managed with the utmost efficiency. This multi-story labyrinth is right in the middle of Boystown. Rooms are adequate (with multiple porn channels) and everything is very clean. There are vending machines for foods & drinks. And there are always men around to whom to play. Train station is just a couple of blocks away.

I am a fan of STEAMWORKS and this is another review about the place. Like I said before during the week is not that crowded even though I have had really good shags on different weekdays however I became aware of something that I never paid attention to and that is the place is full of bottoms(I am one of them) but I don't walk around too much I relax just by been in my room every time that I go to STEAMWORKS I come from work and I don't feel like walking I always rent a room and if someone is interested they just go to my room and I decide if I let them in.However in one of this visits I got to talk to a very handsome young guy who was upset because everybody was a bottom and it was a very busy night mind you and he had a great body and ass, on another night a guy that I have sex with every time that I see him at the club told me that they were all bottoms on that night, for him is perfect because he is a top. So I paid more attention and walked around the rooms and there were a lot of asses up in the air so I guess is true , at the club there are a lot of bottoms but also great looking guys and in some weekdays the clientele is not very attractive but I guess we cannot have it all all the time , still the best bathhouse to go to at least for me.

This was my first bathhouse and I had a great time! There was one guy who got too aggressive with me but he backed off before things got too bad. All ages were there, I wish I'd at least tried to come on to the twinks but I was too nervous. Met a nice guy and will go again if I ever get the chance.

It was my first and my last time at Chicago's Steamworks. It was nothing like the glowing reviews it is getting. It has a single floor of room maze, compared to 3 floors of Manscountry. The overrated Steamworks jacuzzy turned out to be a small triangular area sufficient for 5 guys, the water was foaming and seemed dirty. The gym is full of old style machines and free weights and as a rule is empty except occasional 1-2 guys. The croud on Saturday midnight was 99% bottoms, young, middle aged, with puffy or sagging bodies. There were 2 hot black guys. I hooked with one of them but the crowd of bottoms followed us everywhere and would not leave us alone even when asked explicitly so we had to give up doing anything. The place is designed so that you can't get any privacy anywhere and have to give free sex shows to the hordes of sex-hungry bottoms constantly circulating around. That is, unless you get an overpriced room. Manscountry is way better because you can always hide with your man in a corner or a rest room without being bothered by hordes of insolent bottoms. Being located in the middle of Boistown, I expected Steamworks to be queeny and filled with lame sex experience but not to the extent I witnessed! The place is simply no fun if you really wanna have hot sex with hot guys in private.

To be completely honest, I was truly impressed by Steamworks. It definitely turned the preconceived thoughts attached to what a bathhouse is and the conservative Merriam-Webster definition upside-down, excluding the fact that there really are only nude men and the existence of baths. I kid you not that every corner has available condoms and lube. They take prevention and cleanliness seriously. Also all sub-groups of the gay community are welcome (daddies, leathers, bears, cubs [I'm not referring to the ones from neighboring Wrigley], twinks, jocks, and any others I failed to mention). Steamworks Chicago is the best bath house I have ever been to. My friends and I have affectionately called it "Steam" "Hey you wanna go to Steam"? We go evey time we are in Chicago and it never disappoints. Place is nice and big with lots of places to get intimate. Great gloryhole room too. Three stories high; with the first floor having a pool sized whirlpool, sauna, and steam room that you could get lost in. The second floor houses the private rooms, the gloryholes, and the slings. Third floor is the gym with strict no sex policy as a courtesy to those guests who are not there for the sex. Steam is always packed and has a good mix of people. Best time to go is during pride fest as it can go off the chain! As with any bathhouse you do get the hawkers and weirdos trying to follow and grope you (like some old Asian man did me one night. eww!) but it's rare due to the amount of people there. Lots of great sex too! Got gang banged in the sling first night I was ever there!

this is a pretty big place, has a HUGE hot tub, but make sure you TIE your towel around the railing before you get in, I saw a bunch of people's go into the water, I went on a saturday, and it was pretty busy, seems like a lot of the younger guys (I'm 22) were bottoms, which is cool with me, it was a pretty good mix of people, who aren't at all picky so action is easy here, had to wait maybe 10 min for a room, but nothing major, very friendly staff, reasonable prices, tons of tv screens, but not as many playing porn as you might think, a bunch have room status updates for people on the waiting list for a room. I ended up with 3 cute mex. guys in the 4 hours i was there, classy for a bathhouse, lol

I went this bathhouse thanks giving day and on black Friday too. Guys of all race/ shape/sizes. Atmosphere was good, large, nice. I hooked up with young European guy. He was yummy. This place is pretty big compared to others. There are three maze sections of varying size with a ton of glory holes - way too many in my opinion. The hot tub and steam room had a really cool layout with a bunch of nooks and spots to hang out in. Hot tub was pretty dark though and with chest high water so you wouldn't know what you're getting into. Dry sauna wasn't even on when i was there, and hot tub / wet sauna were completely empty of people. The gym on the third floor is a legit gym with no posted rules of attire - anyone could go in. All the spaces where clean and staff kept it that way through the night. Staff was friendly and non-invasive. The guys were a relatively large mix - with a definite majority on over weight middle aged men. That's pretty much the case at every bath house I've been to, but these guys weren't groping or following me around which was cool. Also the younger guys weren't all tweaked out like some places. All in all this is probably my favorite bath house I've been to on travels - clean, comfortable, big, and fun Only down side was that I had to leave early, 2am for a flight in the morning.

Clean, modern, well-managed, civilized, sex friendly place. All types of guys with healthy sexual appetites ready to play. Very few with attitude. Most importantly, I didn't see too many tweaking out of their minds - a serious turn off to me. Every gay man who loves sex and is in Chicago should check this place out. This is my second favorite bathhouse in the US, right behind the Steamworks in Berkeley. This place is located right in the heart of the gay area of Chicago (Boy's Town) so right after the bars close it can get packed, 3 floors plus play area and suck pit that's on video on a closed channel on the room tv's! Best streamroom I've ever seen and a chest high jacuzzi with perfect nooks to play in :).

Just visited Steamworks in Chicago on Friday, June 18 and Sat June 20, 2010. Spent 8 hours there each night. The place is located on a vibrant, narrow, two way street in an historic commercial and residential area. The area appeared well kept, mostly white and upscale. Steamworks itself was mostly inconspicuous on the exterior. Inside, there are 3 floors. The first floor has an irregularly designed wet area, including a steam maze. Most of the activity occurs on the second and third floors, where there are many private rooms, multiple glory hole areas and an over abundance of mirrors everywhere, which lend the place a "fun house" feel. There were plenty of men there. About 1/3 were minorities - black, hispanic and Asian. Almost everyone had an average build and almost everyone seemed to be into oral exclusively. Thus, being an eager, buff bottom, I didn't make much headway. Not that I'm that selective, but I couldn't get anyone to fuck me in the glory booths all through Saturday night. There are new condoms in the booths, and in many places scattered throughout the place, but this didn't seem to increase anyone's interest in fucking. Overall, the place is clean, dimly lit and a maze of narrow hallways and glory hole areas. Throbbing, generic music can be heard nonstop. If you have an average build and are into oral, this is probably a great place for you. I was hoping to see more clean cut, worked, professional types, but I didn't.

I have been to the Steamworks gay baths in Berkeley, California, and to the Chicago location, and I don't know which place is better. Both places are always packed, especially on weekends, and there is always something for everyone. This is one of the best places to find gay sex in Chicago, and I plan to renew my membership when it expires.

This is the best bathhouse I have ever been to! The first time I was in Steamworks, I was happy to find that they have a clean, modern facility, as well as the extremely cute and friendly staff. I was also in awe of all the great sex I had with some hot Chicago men. A beautiful Latin man placed in the sling and f***ed me senseless.
